How do you achieve work life balance? Well, you're going to learn today that it's not created externally, but it's created internally. And why is it so hard to achieve work life balance? Well, where most of us get this wrong is that we're thinking this is an external result. We're looking for, but the real way is to create that internally to create a life of balance.
As you're going to learn, it's through balancing both your inner masculine and your inner feminine. This is your invitation to become the alchemist of your life. You decode your heaven on earth and go through the alchemical process. The alchemist is a master of himself so that he can master life. People thought alchemists were turning lead into gold, but they're really crystallizing their soul into form.
Alchemize your golden potential. Welcome to the golden life. How do you achieve work life balance? Well, you're going to learn today that it's not created externally, but it's created internally. Welcome to the Golden Life. My name is David Gilbert, and I'm here to be our alchemical guide to help you transform your inner and outer world for the better.
In today's episode, we're going to talk about that thing that everybody truly wants to achieve, but it seems so difficult to find. And why is it so hard to achieve work life balance? your Well, where most of us get this wrong is that we're thinking this is an external result we're looking for. But the real way is to create that internally, to create a life of balance.
And as you're going to learn, it's through balancing both your inner masculine and your inner feminine. And this is something that the ancient alchemists would describe as balance. coming together, the inner king and queen coming together in sacred union. And you'll see these crazy pictures of a two headed being with both a man and a woman coming together.
And that was the symbolism of the journey you'll go through to create that internally. And that's really what we're going to talk about today. So first of all, it's helpful to understand like, where do you in life? So if you're all alone, Do you tend to be somebody who just bees? Or do you need to be doing something?
And another way to ask this is, do you tend to be a type A person, always on the go, doing or creating? Or are you more of a bliss junkie? Somebody who flows with life to the next moment by moment. So take a second and see just which one do you feel like you resonate with more and be completely honest with yourself.
Like if you're totally left alone, are you just going to spend the whole day being, or are you going to have to be doing, doing, doing, doing consistently, or at least on the majority basis, this is going to be huge to understand where you naturally gravitate towards when it comes to your inner masculine and feminine.
Maybe you're like, David, I don't know where you're talking about this inner masculine and feminine. And this is to really highlight. We both, whether you're a male or female, we both have male and female energies within ourselves. And I can start off by just sharing more about my own story. I know that as a kid, I would spend a lot of my time just being.
And if I was left to my own devices, like I know that I lean towards being, I lean towards the bliss junkie or just going with the flow or getting into a creative flow. But over the years that shifted to a more masculine of doing, doing, doing. But this isn't to say that you're going to be wired in this one way for the rest of your life.
But it's helping bring to surface your natural inner state. Kind of where your strength lies, so you know where to develop and where your strength already is. So once again, whether you're a man or woman, we all have these inner masculine and feminine qualities in us. Now, the majority of us tend to polarize in either side.
Like, I am a more masculine oriented man, but this is really to say that I spend more time focused on growth, on creation. on expansion where the feminized the feminine polarized will focus more on being on experiencing on flowing so i can go back on my own story and this is the invitation for you to just look at your natural state when you're younger once again do you tend to be somebody that leans toward being or a bliss junkie are you more that doer that type a personality and i know for myself like i just I would lean towards being the bliss junkie, but it is pretty close, but I could share this evolution of my own story where I had the opportunity to develop more of those inner masculine abilities so that I could come back in balance with the inner feminine.
And masculine. What does that look like? Well, I could look back on my life and see I've actually balanced between the two quite a bit in high school. I got very creative. I had back problems. So I spent a lot of time just on my computer and I got into graphic design and I started designing t shirts and I love the design process.
Uh, but I also started learning about business and I trademarked send Cal for central California and I was selling shirts in high school, but I could see once again. You know, kind of going from that creative, but also a little bit about business, but business wasn't really my strength. I knew deep down, it was really being that creative part and even going to college.
Uh, I started at business school for a little bit for, for my college degree. And then I went to art center, college of design. So I really developed my strengths over time of that creative aspect. Now, the hard thing about being very creative is that sometimes that commitment, that discipline, that consistency, which is a very male masculine energy, uh, was a little bit lacking.
So I know for myself, later when I finally went to open my own store, uh, during 2020, I really evolved in the masculine way of being. To do, do, do, to create, create, create, uh, which is another word for what shows up in today's culture, which is hustle culture. Got really into hustling, got really into high performance.
I even got certified by the High Performance Institute so I can learn these techniques for myself and help others through the process too. And I kind of went from one end of the scale to the other, but now it's coming back into the middle. Because what happens, if you know you're a bliss junkie, you have the opportunity to step into more of that type A creator doing.
Or, if you know you're more of a doer, then there's an opportunity to spend more time being, or recovering, or relaxing. Because when you can come together, you'll find that inner balance you've been craving all along. Cause I know for myself now, as I went from learning about high performance and getting into hustle culture, and then eventually burning myself out as the majority of high performers do, if you want to level up to peak performance, you actually got to balance both the masculine and the feminine.
What I mean by that, well, the formula for growth is stress plus rest equals growth. So if you truly want to be a high performer or if you want inner peace with work and modern day life that is always on and always something going on, then it's about finding that internally. So to go from high performer to peak performer, you actually emphasize recovery, AKA being just as much as doing or creating.
And you understand that recovery is just as important as productivity itself. Otherwise, you're just going to burn yourself out because you're not a robot because you're not just one being made of only, you know, creating, creating, creating or achieving, achieving, achieving. There's a part of you that wants to be able to just be just experience, just come back to peace in the present moment.
Now, the beauty is that you're really understanding yourself, right? Know thyself. This is really that process. And when you do that, and then you can take action to counterbalance your natural essence or your natural strength, then you develop the confidence within yourself because I could speak from my own experience now that I can have the confidence that if it's a situation where I need to lean into productivity, I can do that.
But then I could count on my natural state to come back to being, to come back to recovery when I need to, and vice versa. So this is really you getting to know yourself, you know, where do you lean? And then where can you grow the opposite quality? Because this is how we start to feel, embodied. This is how we start to feel at peace within ourselves.
So if you're somebody that's really feeling like you're lacking a lot of inner peace, then it's time to understand you have these feminine qualities inside of you that you've just been pushing away. That you haven't been giving the space to grow or develop, which is more about experiencing the present moment.
Or if you're somebody who hasn't been getting the results out of life that you want to get and not creating the life that you can imagine for yourself, then maybe you've been spending too much time in the feminine qualities versus the masculine, which is about the external results, about creation, about expansion, about a growth.
So where does that lie for you? And this is something you can even start to see in the collective as well. What do I mean by that? Well, you could see that at least in the United States, we're shooting this video that we are in a very masculine oriented society where we now live in an era where we have tools like AI and robots.
Where we can just create simply by typing something into a keyboard and have that go create in the external world. And you think we would get to this level, at least at the time of shooting this, this is 2024 when we're recording this. Where we have mastered the external world to some extent, right? Like the masculine has done it, the masculine energy has been able to do that.
And we can even see how the inner masculine and feminine play out in the collective and take a look at United States. That's where I live and what I know well, and our culture is very masculine oriented, right? Businesses are all about profits, about achieving, about creating that next thing and expanding.
And you could see the interesting times that we live in today. Where on a collective level, it's more important than ever for all of us to find that internal balance because we're coming to the realization that how we have grown through the industrial age is not sustainable. And it's the same thing if you get into high performance, you know, hustle culture isn't sustainable.
You will eventually burn yourself out unless you understand the power of recovery, the power of the feminine aspect of nurturing yourself, of giving yourself space and having those self care practices. So as a collective, we've continued to, since the industrial age to expand, expand, expand our resources and double our population from 4 billion humans on this planet to now 8 billion.
But now the opportunity for us as a collective is to step into a more feminine way of being okay with just being. Of not needing to be constantly growing, growing, growing. And being more focused on creating harmony overall for the collective. The well being overall, right? Nurturing each other. So this is something that is with inside of all of us as well as the collective of mankind and it all starts with gaining that awareness about yourself and As you do this, I know I could speak from my own experience.
You'll gain more confidence. You'll gain more peace You'll gain more clarity about yourself Because you'll understand how to work with these inner poles this inner Wanting, of wanting to be able to be happy just experiencing, and this also this other part that wants to experience novelty and grow and expand.
And when you come together, it will be just like the alchemical drawings of the inner king and the inner queen coming together in sacred union, and then eventually giving birth to the philosopher's child. So thank you for joining me on this journey today. I hope it brought some clarity and awareness about where you lean and where you have the opportunity to really develop the other side, because as you do, you will have that internal balance.
And when you create that balance internally, it's gonna show up externally. So I'd love to hear, reach out, let me know what you thought about this episode. If you know where you lie and where your opportunity is to grow and discover that inner peace that has been there all along.
